Job Description

As Global Category Specialist - IT, the successful postholder takes a proactive approach to supporting globaI IT categories through sourcing plans, contract ownership and supplier development activities. Reporting to the Global Category Lead IT, the Global Category Specialist - IT owns certain tender processes, liaising with senior colleagues including the VP Procurement & Real Estate to monitor supplier performance & compliance whilst driving savings and 'value add' to the business. The Global Category Specialist - IT also contributes to the wider global IT category management strategy with supply market understanding and observations.

Key Accountabilities:

Category Sourcing Plan:

  • Support in analysis of supply market, understanding products/services being purchased within category, understanding internal demand/specification and external best practices

  • Identify and analyse strategic sourcing options under the guidance of the Global Category Manager

  • Run/support tender process, including seeking approvals from Global Category Manager, VP Procurement & Real Estate and other internal stakeholders, as required

  • Challenge current working practices, specifications and demands for category

  • Harmonize specification(s) with business stakeholders to standardize demand

Contract Development:

  • Create plan and support Global Category Manager with supplier negotiations

  • Ensure adherence to signing authorities

  • Communicate contracts to relevant stakeholders

Supplier Development:

  • Support Global Category Manager with regular performance reviews with preferred suppliers

  • Support actions on continuous improvement plan with preferred suppliers

  • Support development of alternative suppliers

  • Support development and implementation of contract KPI’s

Contract Lifecycle Management

  • Conduct supplier compliance reviews (i.e. use of supplier within sites, payment terms in system)

  • Monitor supplier performance (i.e. contract KPI’s, price)

  • Support contract compliance (i.e. restricted party screening, financial checks, conflict of interest checks, forced labour, embargoed countries, etc.)

  • Support local sites with compliance to Global contracts, including communication

Now that you know what a Global Category Specialist does, what skills, qualifications and experience do you need?

  • University degree level in Technical/ Business Administration or related subjects or relevant work experience

  • Strong preference for Professional Procurement Qualifications

  • 5+ years of work experience in a global procurement role with a focus on relevant IT categories (Telecoms, Digital, Hardware, Software, Licensing etc)

  • Experience in demand management, sourcing and negotiations

  • Understanding of key sourcing processes and tools as well as contractual and legal aspects

  • Good analytical and conceptual skills combined with the ability to drive results

  • Able to solve problems and communicate complex issues clearly and effectively

  • Ability to negotiate legal and commercial contractual aspects

  • Good time management, planning and organizational skills

  • Proactive, target oriented and assertive personality with strong presentation skills

  • Ability to influence others and align various interests

  • Able to work in a changing environment

  • Proficient in MS Office

  • Fluent in English
