You are a passionate software engineer who cares about quality and you know what it means to ship high quality code. You are a strong enough tester to test just about anything, and a strong advocate for maintaining a high quality bar. You are on your way to being a technical quality expert; working closely with the developers and testers to enable and encourage them to design and implement tests in an efficient way, by providing them with the right tools, frameworks, and guidance. You are used to working in agile teams and helping development teams become empowered to iterate rapidly while remaining confident that test infrastructure will provide short feedback loops on features introduced. 

As Software Test Engineer you will have the following key accountabilities:

  • Part of a multi-disciplinary agile team
  • Providing guidance on software quality assurance processes and test automation tooling choices to the team
  • Making quality an integral part of the development process
  • Custodian of quality and making sure non-functional and information security testing are not an afterthought in the software development lifecycle
  • Working in an agile fashion and a promoter of agile (iterative) thinking
  • Proactively interacting with stakeholders to understand requirements and subsequently translate them into technical stories with acceptance criteria for the developers
  • Performing and executing all functional, data integrity and non functional testing. Developing use cases, test scripts, and translate these for usage in automated regression testing
  • Ensuring that a high level of data accuracy and integrity is maintained
  • Supporting data management activities to ensure a high level of data quality and integrity is continuously maintained
  • Recommending and ensuring the required configuration and process automation are in place to enforce a high data standard
  • Keeping up-to-date with industry changes and have an keen desire to develop
  • Working with the development team troubleshooting issues raised by users and provide prompt resolution
  • Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously

Now that you know what a Software Test Engineer does, what skills, qualifications and experience do you need?

  • 3+ years of enterprise applications (CRM, ERP, BI) such as SAP ERP, Workday, Salesforce, MS Azure
  • Experience from analysis and design through to successful implementation enterprise application developments
  • Ability to design and develop both manual tests and automation tests
  • Experience of a variety of automation test tools
  • Agile experience with business-driven and test-driven development
  • An open and collaborative mindset both within and outside your team
  • Interest in helping other engineers become even better
  • Good understanding of project lifecycle
  • Ability to estimate and vocalise workload
  • Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
  • ISQTB certified

It would be a great addition if you have:

  • Performance testing
  • Data analysis and management experience
  • Working in a global, multicultural environment
  • Working from different locations
