Job Description

At GfK we help our clients and retail partners to understand the dynamics of their marketplace. We identify key-trends and deliver relevant insights and value. As acknowledged market experts we maintain a continuous dialogue with our clients and partners to support them in setting clear strategies for commercial success. In this demanding and fast-paced environment we are looking for an ambitious Retail Account Manager based in Copenhagen, servicing local and Nordic retailers. We are looking for a personality with high energy and drive who is just one step ahead, is business driven and puts the clients first. You should be able to create a partnership with our Retailers and ensure the highest possible ROI on our cooperation. In addition, you are able to recruit new retail partners and sell relevant solutions to partners supporting their business goals. You are a connector, good in building relations and commercially minded by nature. We expect you to have 3-5 experience from a retailer, manufacturer (preferable within the Tech and durable industry) or from a market research institute.

The Retail Account Manager role sits at the heart of GfK’s product offering and therefore the ability to work closely, principally, with Client Solutions as well as other GfK departments, will determine overall success.

Reporting to our Commercial Director – Nordics, also based in Copenhagen, the Retail Account Manager will own a number of larger Nordics retailer accounts and will be predominantly tasked with value delivery and building long term relationships as well as up and cross selling additional services to this ‘Retailer Group’ client base in line with global KPI´s defined by the retail organization.

Purpose of the role:

Negotiate and ensure data cooperation with Retailers and sell solutions to them. Own relationships based on one face to the client and deliver added value to retailers

Key Activities:

  • Build, maintain, and strengthen relationships with key Retail accounts in the Nordics

  • Service a portfolio of smaller local retailers

  • Act as strategic partner for our Retail Partners

  • Negotiates data-in from retailers and sell solutions to retailers

  • Recruit new retailers to ensure a good coverage in the Nordics

  • Sell-in and train Retailers in reporting solutions like our retail analysers and gfknewron

  • Identify account needs to generate interest and leads for GfK portfolio (incl. up-sell and cross-sell)

  • Join key presentations & workshops adding expertise during project/ contract delivery

  • Overall ensure the satisfaction of retail partners and ensure a first-class partnership

Skills & Experience required:

Client / Industry 

- Competent understanding of retailers organisation structure and key priorities

- Ability to network GfK’s services and products to match client’s business requirements

- Ability to work with other GfK product experts to provide truly outstanding client analysis

- Build effective relationships with client’s support functions (procurement, legal, etc.)

- Ability to highlight client issues and convert to opportunities for the Sales team

Commercial skills

- Ability to build lasting client relationships

- Ability to hunt-out and quantify, market opportunities

- Understand and ‘sell’ the value of GfK’s proposition

- CRM Management

- Liaison with GfK stakeholders for current and developing opportunities

Offer/Negotiation/Legal

- Develop offer and negotiation strategy and tactics

- Storytelling ability and presentation skills

- Sales and negotiation skills

- Contract execution – from client signature to internal processes

Project Management (basic)   

- Offer/negotiation as a project

- Script/Storyline for team offers and negotiations

- Implementation and follow through

Self / Personality         

- Communication / interaction skills / authority

- Minimum one Nordic language and English (key note / excellent orator)

- Client oriented attitude / willingness to go the extra mile

- Integrity and loyalty

- Warmth / empathy / ability to build sustainable relationships

- Eagerness to expand within client organization

- Software skills / MS Office
