Job Description

Mission of the role

The MM Hub Data Engineer is part of the global Media Measurement technology team contributing to its agile proprietary software development program. The role focuses on data persistence and transformations as well on delivery of BI interface to internal and external clients. MM Hub Engineering team is the sole owner of 2 BI platforms run on Tableau and delivering data insights to internal and external clients. MM Hub Data Engineers are the development team staying behind these platforms working on AWS cloud environment.

As a Data Engineer you will have the following key accountabilities:

  • Develop new BI solutions and maintaining existing ones

  • Interpret data and its trends, find and analyze hidden models

  • Work on software components that include data transformation workflows and data integration services

  • Apply an end-to-end view and focus on overall data integrity and data flow rather than closed software components

  • Implement runtime quality checks of live data streams and dataset.

  • Collaborate in a global agile software development organization (SCRUM)

  • Investigate data issues reported by the users of the data platforms (mostly by SQL queries)

  • Document and handover new and changed applications to end users

Now that you know what a Data Engineer does, what skills, qualifications and experience do you need?

  • Ability to use SQL for ETL purposes

  • Understanding of relational databases design principles

  • Understanding of Python and ability to maintain existing solutions (data manipulation codes) in this language. Willingness to improve the skills in this programming language.

  • Knowledge in Git and version control

  • Basic knowledge with BI tools, preferably Tableau

    • We are widely using Tableau to provide solutions to internal and external clients and the person we need will focus on developing solutions on Tableau as also maintaining existing ones

  • Understanding of statistical concepts

  • Understanding of consistency concepts of distributed data storage solutions

  • Basic understanding of the inner workings of distributed computation systems, including resource management

  • Overview of common cloud infrastructure and services for data processing (e.g., AWS)

  • Fluent level of English language, both written and spoken
