Map of the Month: Senior households, Germany 2021

GfK’s Map of the Month for February shows the regional distribution of senior households in Germany in 2021.

According to GfK’s recent study on Germany, the country’s eastern states have a comparatively high share of this demographic, with the top spot going to the urban district of Suhl, where 48.49 percent of all household heads are 60 years or older. The urban district of Dessau-Roßlau (47.61 percent) takes second place, followed by the rural district of Altenburger Land (47.07 percent).
