GfK’s Map of the Month for October illustrates the 2021 regional distribution of purchasing power for food via online and brick-and-mortar retail in Germany.

Per capita consumer potential for this product line significantly differs across Germany's online and brick-and-mortar retail channels. Residents of the urban district of Munich spend €109 per capita and thus 111.1 percent more online for food than the German average, putting them in first place among the country’s 401 districts. First place for purchasing power for food in brick-and-mortar retail goes to the rural district of Starnberg, whose inhabitants spend €3,575 and 26.5 percent more on this product line than the national average.
