Map of the Month: Net household income under €2,000, Germany 2021

GfK’s Map of the Month for September shows the regional distribution of households with a net household income of less than €2,000 in Germany.

Consumer sentiment in Germany continues to decline: Germans are worried about supply bottlenecks for oil, gas and petrol as well as rising food prices and are therefore increasingly putting money aside. These concerns are particularly high among lower-income households with a net household income of less than €2,000.

The latest GfK survey on demographics in Germany shows that the proportion of households with a monthly net household income below €2,000 is highest in the urban district of Bremerhaven at 54.16 percent. The rural districts of Goerlitz (51.81 percent) and Vorpommern-Greifswald (50.42 percent) follow in second and third place. The last place is occupied by the rural district of Hochtaunuskreis: Here, only 12.62 percent of all households have a net household income of less than €2,000.
