Key highlights from Know.React.Predict. Control what happens next

What an event! Following a high-paced afternoon of insights, inspiration and energy, we felt a reminder of each session would be valuable, together with videos of all the sessions from the day which you can watch on demand. The day was hosted by our own Anthony Norman, Vice President UK & Nordics.

GfK’s Megan Moore opened the event with a data-packed, multi-lensed view of today’s consumer for tech & durables. Covering what categories they are now buying and why, and the changes in purchase journeys, Megan finished with rich insights from analysis of leading-edge-consumers and how to boost brand equity by tapping into the trends these reveal for 2022.

Next up, Sarah Wood, founder of Unruly, delivered with huge enthusiasm and experience on how to use data better, to unleash transformational change within your company. Sharing her personal acronym, ACTION, she took the audience on a stimulating tour through Alignment and Access, Curiosity and Culture, Time, Investment, Outcome-obsession and Nuances  as core drivers of how to make change happen through data.

Sean ONeill, GfK’s Chief Product Officer, then held the room rivetted with a whistle-stop demonstration of the power of the gfknewron platform. Using live (redacted!) screenshots from the actual platform, Sean showed how the compelling data visualization makes real-time market opportunities and insights leap off the screen – ending the anxiety of missing that golden nugget because it’s submerged within reams of data. Added to this, Sean shared a client case-study proving the huge effect of ‘data democratization’ on performance – the ability to give every team within your company direct access to a universal, trusted source of intelligence, so that plans build on these are fundamentally already aligned.

The finale was the panel of strategic experts from across data, tech and durables. Gillian Binks (Strategic Marketing Lead at Microsoft), Alistair Clarke (Head of Strategic Development at AO.com), Howard Grindrod (Vice President at Hisense UK) and Sarah Wood (founder of Unruly). This dynamic team shared their huge depth and breadth of experience, answering questions including:

  • How can we encourage consumers to spend their money in time of growing economic stress?
  • How can we use data to predict upcoming trends and take businesses forwards?
  • How can we make best use of social channels and avoid the pitfalls?
  • What role dues the high street play in today’s channels to market?
  • How do we position AI as an opportunity, rather than a threat, with our employees?
