This is part of the findings from a survey of 5,134 adults in Belgium, conducted by GfK's Social and Strategic research team.
The respondents were also asked about their party of choice during the regional elections in 2014.
Flemish party results
This shows that, for every Flemish government party, a majority of voters are in favour of deposit money for plastic bottles and cans.
Among the voters of CD & V, 82%, are in favour of introducing a deposit, closely followed by N-VA voters at 80%, and Open VLD voters at 75%.
For supporters of the opposition parties, 91% of the Green voters, 80% of the sp.a voters and 67% of the Flemish Interest voters agree that deposit money should be introduced in Belgium.
Across all Flemish political parties, therefore, a majority of the voters are behind the introduction of deposit money.
French speaking party results
In all French-speaking parties, a majority is in favour of the deposit.
88% of MR voters are favour of the measure, along with 92% of cdH voters, 87% of PS voters, 85% of Challenge voters, 97% of Ecolo voters and 83% of PTB voters.
(Note: for the Challenge and PTB electorates, the margin of error is large due to a limited number of respondents)
Overall
More than one voter in two in Belgium (55%), says that the litter in his / her municipality plays an "important" to "very important" role in his / her choice of vote for the municipal elections in October.
In addition, 87% of people believe that deposit money in Belgium can reduce litter.
GfK conducted the survey among 5,134 respondents in Belgium from May 30 through June 7, 2018. The results of the survey were weighted and representative by gender, age, province and social class.

Dat toont een analyse van de antwoorden die 5.134 respondenten gaven op een bevraging door GfK Social and Strategic Research.
De respondenten werd ook gevraagd naar hun partijkeuze tijdens de regionale verkiezingen in 2014.
Daaruit blijkt dat bij elke Vlaamse regeringspartij een meerderheid van de kiezers voorstander van statiegeld is.
Bij de kiezers van CD&V is 82% voorstander van invoering van statiegeld, bij de N-VA-kiezers 80% en bij de Open VLD-kiezers 75%.
Bij de oppositiepartijen gaat het om 91% van de Groen-kiezers, 80% van de sp.a-kiezers en 67% van de Vlaamse Belang-kiezers die het eens zijn dat statiegeld wordt ingevoerd in België.
Bij alle Vlaamse politieke partijen staat dus een meerderheid van de kiezers achter de invoering van statiegeld.
Meer dan één kiezer op twee (55%), zegt dat het zwerfvuil in zijn/haar gemeente een "belangrijke" tot "heel belangrijke" rol speelt bij zijn/haar stemkeuze voor de gemeenteraadsverkiezingen in oktober.
87% van de mensen is van mening dat statiegeld in België het zwerfafval kan verminderen.
GfK voerde de bevraging uit bij 5.134 respondenten in België van 30 mei tot en met 7 juni 2018. De uitkomsten van het onderzoek zijn gewogen en representatief naar geslacht, leeftijd, provincie en sociale klasse.

Les répondants ont également été questionné sur leur choix de parti aux élections régionales de 2014.
Cela montre que dans tous les partis francophones une majorité est favorable à la consigne.
Dans l’électorat du MR 88% est favorable à la mesure, dans celui du cdH 92%. Dans l’électorat du PS 87% des électeurs est favorable à la consigne, ainsi que 85% des électeurs de Défi, 97% des électeurs d’Ecolo et 83% des électeurs du PTB.
(Ndlr: en ce qui concerne l’électorat de Défi et PTB, la marge d’erreur est grande à cause d’un nombre limité de répondants)
Plus qu’un électeur sur deux (55%), déclare que la problématique des déchets sauvages dans sa commune joue un rôle (très) important dans son choix de parti aux communales d’octobre.
Par ailleurs, 87% des gens estime que la consigne peut réduire les déchets sauvages en Belgique.
GfK a mené l’enquête auprès de 5.134 Belges, du 30 mai au 7 juin 2018. Les résultats ont été pondérés et sont représentatifs pour les facteurs genre, âge, province et classe sociale.
