Job Description

In this demanding and fast-paced environment, we are looking for an Account Manager who will work for a line of business we are very proud of – (Retail) Market Insights. At Market Insights we help our clients from the non-food industries to understand the dynamics of their marketplace. Up-to-date retail sales data reveal how products are performing in the market – ongoing. In order to get in time, in quality & relevant data, we need you to make the difference in recruiting our retail partners.

By joining our team that works with the top players in the industry, you will add value to our design research and solve real business problems. You will be responsible for making significant contributions to proposals and delivering actionable insights to clients and in recruiting new retailer partners. Our focus markets for this position will be within the Consumer Electronics, Garden, Fashion, Kitchen Retail, Pet care, Automotive and Bike industries sectors.

As an Account Manager, you will have the following key accountabilities:

  • You create, maintain and develop an excellent relationship with key players in the industry and C-level executives
  • You will visit clients in order to develop the portfolio of retailers we are partnering with and identify potential business opportunities
  • You will be in charge of expanding the current portfolio and increasing our panel
  • You prepare & present proposals for retailers and contract negotiations
  • You will be GfK’s main representative in the industries we want to develop

Now that we've introduced you to the position of an Account Manager in Retail, what skills, qualifications and experience should you have?

  • You have a university degree in either Economics, Marketing, Business Administration, or in a related field
  • You have experience in a similar position, as an active sales professional; experience in the non-food industries would be a plus
  • You are fluent in Dutch and English, French is a plus.  
  • You have affinity with Market data analysis, interpretation, and recommendations, a plus if you also have knowledge of Belgium retailers
  • You have good numerical skills with attention to details
  • You communicate and present exceptionally good, have a dynamic and adaptive personality with a can-do attitude and a sales mindset
