European consumers show differing ways of saving
February 8, 2010 – The GfK Association has investigated consumer saving behavior against the backdrop of the current economic crisis. While consumers in Germany, the UK,France and Austria are trying to reduce their expenditure in many areas, day-to-day saving is currently not such an urgent concern for survey respondents in Spain and Poland. In these two countries, almost one in three of those questioned said they were doing nothing at all to reduce their household budget.

When will the crisis hit German consumers?
February 3, 2010 – Today’s press conference of the GfK Group, which was held in Nuremberg, focused on the development of private consumption in 2009 and the outlook for 2010. As forecast by GfK, private consumption has increased by 0.4% over the past year, and this in turn has boosted economic development. In 2010, GfK is expecting to see stagnation in private household expenditure.

SDA Western Europe in 2009 – Most key markets still widely unaffected by economic crisis
February 2, 2010 - In total, consumers spent EUR 8.5 billion (GfK panel market) on Small Domestic Appliances in 2009 in the ten Western European Countries, showing a slight positive development (+0.4% in Euro) compared to total year 2008.

New Year lifts Consumer Confidence in the UK?
January 29, 2010 - The GfK NOP Consumer Confidence Index for the UK rose by two points this month to -17. Confidence in “general economy” over the last 12 months has risen by four points to -57. Confidence in general and confidence in their own personal situation in the next 12 months have both increased. The ‘major purchase Index’, has stayed the same at -16.
