Financial Research Survey

The definitive market measurement study of consumer finance.

What it is

The Financial Research Survey (FRS) is one of the largest and longest running surveys tracking personal financial holdings and behaviors and is considered the industry benchmark within the financial industry. The survey covers all the main financial retail markets including banking, savings and investments, lending, insurance and retirement planning to build a complete picture of the financial portfolio held by consumers at an individual level (plus a wealth of demographic data).

How it works

Using an innovative hybrid methodology combining both face to face and online interviewing, a highly representative sample of 60,000 adults (aged 16+) across Great Britain are interviewed each year with data continuously collected and reported each month. There are a number of ways to access the FRS including an annual subscription, syndicated 'off the shelf' market reports or by commissioning bespoke analysis.

The FRS provides a single source dataset of financial information that can be mined in an almost infinite variety of ways and can be used to gain insights into:

  • Market size and structure
  • Customer segmentation
  • Opportunity identification
  • New product performance
  • Channel optimization
  • Market share analysis
  • Customer value
  • Share of wallet
  • Peer group benchmarking
  • Loyalty drivers analysis
