GfK’s NextGen Competition: A Hands-On Market Research Experience

GfK’s NextGen Data Science Hackathon Competition gives undergraduate student researchers from North American universities a chance to test their marketing and research knowledge and be immersed in the world of consumer data. Using data analysis and integration -- as well as research and marketing savvy -- they address issues critical for today’s marketers. 

The winning team receives a $5,000 cash prize, publicity through GfK's announcements about the competition, and invaluable feedback on their work from GfK clients and on-staff experts.  

NextGen is open to full- and part-time undergraduate students currently matriculating at accredited North American colleges or universities – and this year GfK has made it easier than ever to enter. The competition is ideal for students majoring or taking courses in:

  • Data Science or Analytics
  • Market Research
  • Consumer Behavior
  • Statistics
  • Sociology

Students will work alone or in teams at their own locations during the 10-day hackathon (January 17 to 28, 2019) then present their findings on the final day of the event. One faculty advisor is recommended per team.
