Job Description
As part of the Point of Sale (POS) division in GfK we are looking for a .NET Software Engineer helping us to grow one of our mission critical agile teams at the core of our pipeline processing billions of data points each month.
Software Engineers are crucial members of our teams, being able to integrate with our Data Scientists, QA and Product Team roles. We expect them to take ownership of delivering in a way that enables us to maintain, improve and grow our systems on the short and long term. This includes pro-active and self-reliant contribution to our components, transparent communication as well as fostering knowledge sharing with a focus on continuous improvements within the team.
Write effective and scalable code
Ability to deliver clean code as well as assets to a high standard
Interest to dive deep into our business domain and understand why we build things and how to help our stakeholders
Eagerness to learn and introduce latest trends in industry as well as supporting maintenance of existing systems
Ensure components can be delivered to high standards of automated quality assurance and reduced efforts of maintenance
Strong C# / .NET (Core) application development knowledge
Strong knowledge on relational data base management systems (preferably Oracle)
Strong knowledge on application testing and test automation (unit testing, integration testing, test-data management)
Prior experience in building ETL pipelines and batch processing data
Prior experience working with and on CI/CD pipelines
Container driven environments (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, Hashicorp Nomad or similar)
Knowledge on test and behaviour driven development (TDD/BDD)
Knowledge on micro-service based architectures including orchestration
Solid knowledge on building distributed systems
Knowledge on measuring code quality and code analysis tooling for .NET
Basic knowledge on building UIs using modern frameworks as Angular or React
