Job Description
GfK is providing a solution to measure consumption of digital advertisements and content, including news, video, audio streams. You are responsible to enable GfK’s clients to integrate the required measurement SDKs into their apps and websites. While doing your job you will automatically learn a lot about GfK’s measurement solution, which is a fully cloud-based, highly scalable, high traffic and big data application. This wider knowledge base will help you to perform your job in a self-organized manner and to analyse complex issues independently.
You are a seasoned software engineer passionate about building functional and performant Web SDKs or applications that delight their users. You understand how web-based applications are built, delivered to and execute their code within browsers. You build TypeScript code with software engineering best practices and have effectively scaled these practices to the size of an engineering team. You are obsessed about the quality and usability of your code, you see writing automated acceptance tests as an inseparable part of feature development. You follow the technology trends within web software development, know of the framework of the month but have learned to write code that stands the test of time. You have used various transpilers and modules, you know and have used in the past some of these tools and languages: TypeScript, JavaScript, WebPack, GitHub.
You will be a pivotal member of our team and will have the opportunity to build a robust Content Tracking SDK to be used by GfK's clients in order enable them knowing their audience and reach metrics.
You will be working as part of a cross functional agile team of a Big Data engineer, an SRE, iOS & Android Developers, Web SDK Developers, a Scrum Master and a Product Owner.

Building Content Tracking Web SDK
The example web engineer of that team who helps others to gain some basic web development skills
Taking ownership of solving problems - your own problems as well as problems the client has while integrating the SDK
Pair programming with your team mates to bring together your skills and knowledge to rapidly build high quality software
Promoting and sharing knowledge around app development, specifically on mobile platforms
5+ years of experience in engineering software, of which the majority and/or most recent experience is with web-based development
A solid TypeScript and JavaScript background
Packaged your apps using tools like WebPack
The opportunity to also become involved (if wished) in native Android Java, Kotlin, Swift , Scala, Bamboo, SonarQube, BrowserStack
An open and collaborative mindset both within and outside your team
Excellent level of English – both written and spoken
University degree or apprenticeship in computer science or similar qualification
The media, advertising or market research industry
AWS tools like S3 or Cloudfront
CI/CD pipelines and tools like Bamboo and Bitbucket/Git
German language – both written and spoken
