Justin Edge, GfK’s Global Head of Health, has received PBIRG’s President’s Award for his contributions to pharma and health market research. Kai Bode, Consumer Lead for Customer Strategy and Innovation at Merck and President of PBIRG, presented the award last night at the organization’s Annual General Meeting.
The President’s Award is given each year to a pharmaceutical market research expert who has provided outstanding service and support to PBIRG (Pharmaceutical Business Intelligence and Research Group) and its goals of delivering research excellence and expertise in the field.
“Justin is a powerful advocate for excellence in pharma research,” said Bode. “He has been a strong proponent of innovative approaches – digital, mobile, and more – that will help move us into the next decade and beyond. And, on a personal level, Justin has helped push me and PBIRG outside our comfort zones, offering just the right mix of candor, inspiration, and encouragement. He is in many ways the ideal recipient for the President’s Award – one who promotes best practices by example.”
At GfK, Edge has championed new solutions to fit the changing business models and operating environments of clients in biopharma and health technology. He joined GfK in the Knowledge Networks acquisition of 2012.
Previously, Edge held a variety of positions with ORC International, leading the brand and healthcare practices. Before settling in the US, Justin worked with HSBC in the UK and with the Irish Trade Board in Sweden. He began his career as a teacher in Ireland.
In his 20-plus years in research and consulting, Edge has advised companies about innovation and new product introductions, customer loyalty, brand and global growth strategies, and other essential business challenges. Edge also has a strong track record for developing profitable research and consulting businesses via organic growth and acquisition.
Edge holds a Master’s degree in Business from The Smurfit School of Business, University College Dublin (UCD); a Graduate Diploma in Marketing Management from the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT); and a Bachelor of Education from the National University of Ireland.
