GfK sharing insights on shopping, COVID-19 in NRF presentation, podcast

GfK's ongoing partnership with the National Retail Federation (NRF) continues to deliver exposure for GfK insights on shoppers -- as well as our recent studies of consumers and COVID-19.

Th NRF is the world’s largest retail trade association, representing discount and department stores, home goods and specialty stores, Main Street merchants, grocers, wholesalers, chain restaurants and internet retailers from the United States and more than 45 countries.

On July 21st,  GfK's Joe Beier (Marketing & Consumer Insights) and Rachel Bonsignore (Consumer Life) will present as part of the NRF NXT virtual conference. The three-day online event -- for retail ecommerce and digital marketing pros -- features live sessions, virtual expo, and nextworking with peers.

Beier and Bonsignore will be taking on the topic of "The COVID-19 Curveball: How an Unparalleled Crisis Changed the Trajectory of Major Consumer Trends – and What That Means for Retailers" at 1:45PM EDT. Their presentation is prerecorded, but they will be answering questions live right after the session.

COVID-19 has undeniably altered the short-term landscape for brands and retailers -- but broad shifts in consumer needs do not happen overnight.  Many trends in shopping and brand preferences that we see today have been building up for a while, but are manifesting much differently now than in pre-pandemic times. Beier and Bonsignore will explore the implications of today's trends, drawing on data from Consumer Life, FutureBuy, and the Consumer Pulse studies.

In addition, Bonsignore appears on a new episode of NRF's Retail Gets Real podcast, looking at "How Social Values Are Impacting Consumer Behavior." She discusses how consumers' values have increasingly affected their shopping choices, and how the current climate -- with COVID-19 and racial equality protests -- presents an opportunity for brands.
