Map of the Month: Sales area provision, Europe 2018

GfK's Map of the Month for May illustrates per capita sales area provision in Europe in 2018.

According to GfK's latest retail study, Europe's per capita sales area increased by a lower-than-typical amount in 2018 due to the counterbalancing impact of population growth. European consumers thus had an average per capita sales area of 1.13m² at their disposal in 2018 (excludes consideration of the countries of Cyprus, Finland, Greece, Ireland, Malta and Slovenia. The top spots go to Belgium (1.66m²), Austria (1.62m²) and the Netherlands (1.60m²).
