Job Description

Key Activities

  • Lead a remote team; be the link between global, regional and local
  • Effectively operate within a matrix structure, providing relevant leadership to other functions as required
  • Communicate clearly, thus ensuring team activities are always focussed and relevant
  • Ensure partner retention and drive acquisition; minimize and mitigate risk to relationships
  • Ensure all data partnerships are correctly managed within the Partnership Program framework
  • Implement Global and Regional strategy and organization; be able to drive change
  • Best practice sharing and generation of success stories
  • Successfully rollout new initiatives; programs, products and ways of working
  • Personally, deliver a range of retail KPIs, including but not limited to sales, acquisition, conversion, quality and new initiatives
  • Selection and appointment of local retail leads 
  • Set targets for the team in conjunction with global based on core retail KPIs
  • Drive potential and win new business opportunities for GfK
  • Negotiate at board level  
  • Support client pitches – utilizing wider GfK expertise where required for partner benefit
  • Conference speaking and networking
  • Monitoring of universe developments of relevant channels and new retail formats
  • Train and develop Retail Country leads and their teams

Skills & Experience required

Client / Industry

  • Deep understanding of the retail sector
  • Extensive industry context
  • Understanding of channels and means of distribution
  • Ability to network GfK’s services and products to match client’s business requirements
  • Ability to create and sustain c-suite relationships
  • Ability to work with other GfK product experts to provide truly outstanding client analysis
  • Build effective relationships with client’s support functions (procurement, legal, etc.)

Commercial skills

  • Ability to build lasting client relationships
  • Ability to hunt-out and quantify, market opportunities
  • Accurate revenue forecasting and budgetary planning
  • Understand and ‘sell’ the value of GfK’s proposition
  • CRM Management (Salesforce)
  • Liaison with GfK stakeholders for current and developing opportunities
  • White spot analysis
  • Invoicing and payment status

Offer/Negotiation/Legal

  • Develop offer and negotiation strategy and tactics
  • Be able to construct winning offers
  • Storytelling ability and presentation skills
  • Sales skills (Sandler or equivalent)
  • Negotiation skills (GAP or equivalent)
  • Legal aspects of contracts in global context
    • Panel Content
    • Software
    • Contract Architecture (MSA, Partnership, SLA
  • Contract execution – from client signature to internal processes

Project Management (basic)     

  • Offer/negotiation as a project
  • Script/Storyline for team offers and negotiations
  • Implementation and follow through

Team Leadership         

  • Lead team against set KPI’s
  • Plan, assign  and control resources to ensure delivery
  • Lateral leadership competences to all GfK stakeholders
