The Marketing & Data Sciences team powers GfK’s intelligence in Central Europe. We deliver tailored analytics to our clients in the region, do consulting in data science and marketing science, and drive innovation in GfK’s regional portfolio. Our mission is to be the partner of choice for our clients to satisfy their ever-growing demand of innovative and prescriptive analytics solutions.
In this demanding and fast-paced environment, we are looking for a Senior Marketing & Data Scientist, who sees the “bigger picture” behind data and is eager to consult our clients and internal stakeholders. With GfK’s extensive presence across the globe, not only will you get to experience of working with the regional team for Central Europe but you have access to a global network of c180 Marketing and Data scientists who all share the same vision to learn, develop and share the latest cutting edge methods.
Your strong background in statistics and/ or data science enables you to run complex analytic projects. You will make useful contributions to discussions with clients and researchers and will recommend appropriate methodologies to design analytic/ research programs which address the client’s marketing/business problems. Good communication skills are important as you will present analysis to researchers/clients on a regular basis.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Consult clients and internal stakeholders in the fields of Marketing Science and Data Science
Support the development of complex data driven research designs.
Support proposal development & sales process as Marketing & Data Science expert
Apply (and improve) corresponding statistical / data science methodology to client questions such as Conjoint-Analyses, Forecasting, Timeseries Modelling, Bayesian Network or Brand Analytics.
Effectively manage own workload & be responsible for managing projects.
Assess feasibility of solutions from Marketing Science perspective
Leverage knowledge exchange in the broad GfK science community
Present GfK's Marketing Science and Data Sciences expertise at conferences and workshops
Support thought leadership
Maintain good working knowledge of statistical analysis techniques, both current and emerging.
Promote new techniques and approaches as well as continuously review external developments
Requirements & Competencies
PhD or Master degree with a strong focus on quantitative techniques like statistics, computer science, mathematics, quantitative marketing, economics or other social science, quantitative psychology, or related areas
Ideally more than 4 years of work experience in the field of data analytics
Solid understanding of different statistical methods such as Brand Analytics, Conjoint Analysis, Forecasting or Timeseries Modelling, Segmentation, Regression, Factor Analysis, etc..
Strong knowledge of analytic software tools and/or programming languages, with special focus on R and/ or Python, data bases is a plus, cloud computing is a plus
Knowledge in areas such applying digital metrics in brand/consumer studies and the ability to handle large (behavioural/social media) datasets is a plus.
Experience in machine learning techniques is a plus
Ability to fluidly communicate in an English business environment, German is a plus
Work cross functionally with different teams and stakeholders in an international setup
Effective at communicating with clients and colleagues. Able to deliver analytic insights in an impactful and meaningful way. Good at managing researcher expectations.
Ability to think creatively in addressing research objectives
Ability to ‘break down’ complex data and statistics into recommendations for science and non-science audiences
