As part of the Point of Sale (POS) division in GfK we are looking for a Senior Python Engineer that can help us build awesome data analytics products.
While historically POS reporting was all about what happened, as one of world’s leading market research firms we are changing the status quo by using predictive analytics to tell our big-name clients what is going to happen instead – plus what actions we recommend them to take to leverage these predictions.
Many of our clients are global, demanding and well-established brands that you probably interact with on a daily basis both online as well as in your living room.
Senior Python Engineers are a crucial member of our teams, being able to integrate with our Front-End Engineers, Data Scientists, QA and Product Team roles. We expect them to take ownership of delivering in a way that enables us to maintain and grow our apps on the short and long term.
As a Senior Python Engineer you will have following key accountabilities:
- Write effective, scalable code
- You have the ability to build clean, well encapsulated packages to a high standard.
- You understand why we are building things and bring suggestions and ideas on how to solve our customers’ problems in the best way
- Be current with the latest trends in industry and academia and always look to implement novel ideas in GfK’s predictive analytics solutions
- Leading a team of highly skilled Engineers whilst also guiding them, providing direction to their analysis and helping them ask the right questions
- Foster a culture of excellence and continuous learning and improvement by sharing knowledge within the Technology and Data network
- Work closely with Data Science Leads, Engineering and Product managers to translate business use cases to workable solutions that can be delivered to Production

You are a self starter
You are a leader and have experience leading squads.
You have experience with Python and SQL
You know how to write unit tests and what’s the good and bad sides of measuring code coverage
You have experience of TDD and implementing it.
You have experience working with Data Science
You have experience with Git and using CI/CD pipelines to get your work in production
You have a familiarity with Agile Frameworks
You have the ability to translate and clearly communicate sophisticated analytical information to none-expert stakeholders and clients
Besides the things we really expect you to have, there are some things which would be amazing if you have experience with them as well:
You have experience with Kubernetes
You have experience with Pandas in Python
You have used Google Cloud Platform
