What We Do:

MRI-Simmons measures consumer preferences, attitudes, and behaviors. We do this by collecting data through surveys and passively measured data in a way that is representative of the general population, applying data science and making sense of consumer data through enterprise-grade software.  Marketers and media companies then use MRI-Simmons data and technology to develop marketing strategies, consumer segmentation schemes and media activation approaches. The MRI-Simmons Insights Product is a consumer intelligence and discovery platform that provides marketers with faster access to actionable consumer insights.

Job Description:

M|S seeks a Senior Methodologist to lead research projects related to our syndicated products focusing on Kids, Teens, and local markets, as well as our Focus Studies, which spotlight specific topics like cable/streaming, sports, and retail trends. This position will oversee all methodological aspects of research products, including identifying populations of interest and how to sample them; creating sample frames; deciding on protocols of data collection and respondent contact; designing questionnaires; weighting; and analyzing data. This role, reporting to the SVP of Research Methods, will stay up to date on the latest methodologies and technologies related to quantitative research. The Senior Methodologist will also work across teams to provide guidance and expertise to a variety of research projects and initiatives.

As the Senior Methodologist, you will have following key accountabilities:

  • Lead methodological aspects of research projects, including study design, sample and weighting plans, data collection protocols, and analytic plans
  • Conduct research projects to improve methodologies, processes, and data integrity
  • Lead special research initiatives on emerging topics in questionnaire design and panel research, such as: mobile-friendly survey design; measuring essential concepts related to current topics such as gender identity and race / ethnicity; and data privacy
  • Evaluate ongoing fieldwork and develop systems to model/project response rates and overall performance KPIs
  • Serve as internal consultant for methodological issues for existing and new products
  • Design and execute analyses to drive constant improvements and enhancements to various research products
  • Support product and commercial teams in defining and defending methodologies of various research products
  • Identify enhancements to methodology and analysis

Now that we have introduced you to the position of Senior Methodologist, what skills, qualifications, and experience should you, have?  

  • 5+ years of experience in multimode survey design, questionnaire design, pre-testing methods, data collection, sampling, and weighting
  • Ability to weigh various priorities, including cost, timing, and accuracy, to ensure the best approach for research projects
  • Demonstrated ability in the design and execution of high-quality survey research
  • Understanding of both survey and passive data, and the data science techniques needed to utilize and analyze those datasets
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and an ability to present complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Proficiency in a statistical software package such as R, SPSS, or SAS is a plus

Salary commensurate with experience, annual base salary range: $140K-$150K
