Job Description

For our business unit Media Measurement we are looking for a Principal Product Owner/Delivery Lead who would be responsible for the delivery and organization for 2-3 Data Science and Engineering squads that deliver our data modelling and integration capabilities within the value stream.


The main intention of a Principal Product Owner/Delivery Lead is not to be another product manager, an architect, a release train engineer or a PMO - no, the delivery lead is in tight collaboration with these key roles and mitigates unbalanced requests, challenges made or addressed decisions and functions as an additional escalation possibility in case of misunderstanding and misalignment. Accordingly he/ she create and maintain clarity on what is expected to be delivered, the delivery lead rather defends the quality of output. A delivery lead enables the teams in his/ her delivery area to deliver towards the roadmap by removing obstacles and supporting. He/ she co-define and execute on the technology strategy for their delivery areas by ensuring that there is a healthy organisation, architecture, and processes to ensure motivated teams deliver according to roadmap high quality output.

  • A Principal Product Owner/Delivery Lead is accountable to make sure that expected results are to be delivered to stakeholders

To be very clear - accountability for keeping up with the expectation on a delivery contains at first the definition of it. For this, the delivery as a thing needs to be clear, what it is, what is needed to delivery and what quality is bound to it. The definition of the expectation (see later for Service Level Agreements) is the ultimate baseline for any explicit discussion regarding outages or change requests.

  • A Principal Product Owner/Delivery Lead is responsible to identify threats and negative impacts to delivery of any kind and then organise a mitigation

  • Product and Features - the delivery needs to reflect and detail requests from product, operations and commercial together with the POs of the logical compound to not overload the funnel of changes and demands in order to not endanger the delivery capability of the segment

  • Budget - even if budget is not within the primary objectives of the delivery lead the budget needs to be kept in view and shortages or possible changes need to be identified and communicated; for this, the delivery lead can rely on tight support and collaboration with PMO to have a continuous controlling on progress and budget

  • Tech and Architecture - together with the architects and system architecture the delivery lead is responsible to find a balance in upcoming plannings to consider needed technical and architectural improvements (enablers, tech debt reduction, architecture strategy of the various teams); this includes the consideration of quality and especially security engineering

  • People and teams - together with agile managers, scrum and kanban masters and release train engineers, the delivery leads observes the smoothness of the development process and mitigates shortages and liabilities together with POs and other hiring managers with a suitable sourcing strategy (strategic staffing)

  • Milestone and timeline - agreed on timelines and aimed for milestones are the core control mechanism of delivery leads to see that delivery is according to plan and expectation

What do you bring with you?

  • Solid experience in product ownership / management (also possible from technology side ie as product owner or similar) where you have shown capability to build, scale and maintain a product across its lifecycles

  • Strong understanding of what is the definition of “healthy” organization and stack based on solid KPIs/ Metrics 

  • Passion to design a strategy and organization derived from business and market requirements and communicate it towards stakeholders

  • Professional stakeholder management to collate business input and requirements and communicate pro-actively strategy, risks, and roadmaps

  • You are solution oriented 

  • Capable in managing distributed teams effectively 

  • Strong experience and understanding of data modeling and integration 

  • Capable to address the challenge and offer a compromise between agile development and client and market milestones
