Job Description

Summary of Role

The Junior Coding Associate role is collecting and collating specification information on our products in the consumer durables markets tracked by GfK Retail and Technology.

This will involve monitoring product launch cycles from key manufacturers and ensuring new product information is received and passed to pre-coding functions before product launches. You will acquire new product information and resolve queries and issues on new/existing products which are unable to be coded due to lack of information supplied in the retailer data.

Flexibility, prioritisation and strong organisational skills are a must. A good telephone manner and the ability to develop good working relationships with team members are pre-requisites.

Main Responsibilities

  • Take ownership and perform analysis to resolve outstanding coding queries where standard approaches have failed
  • To implement initiatives that will positively improve the quality of the data that we supply to clients
  • To ensure that the success of the initiatives are quantified through metrics published weekly
  • Ensure that all queries are handled efficiently and effectively
  • Develop a good working relationship with team members
  • Create a high level of product knowledge – awareness of changes in the market and new product launches for key manufacturers
  • Understand the data management process and work within it
  • Build a knowledge base for products across manufacturers and retailers to allow the coding functions to code more effectively and to prevent partially coded items
  • Work with other Operational departments regarding improving data quality of existing retailer data
  • Where required contact manufacturers or make retailer store visits to source missing product information
  • Develop knowledge of GfK internal tools

Skills and Experience

  • Highly proficient within Microsoft Office suite of tools; Outlook, Excel, Word
  • Attention to detail is essential
  • A logical thinker with excellent problem solving skills and solutions focused
  • Results driven, ability to work to benchmarks and Key Performance Indicators
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills, with ability to manage complex and conflicting requirements or multiple tasks/projects
  • Flawless communication and interpersonal skills; a high standard of both written and spoken English
  • Adaptable and open to change
  • Team player encouraging relationships across both teams and departments and external clients
