Job Description

Summary of Role

With clients at the centre of all we do, the Client Insight Specialist, Retail is the link between GfK and our customers. As part of the Retail Market Intelligence team, the role brings together retail market knowledge and a high level of service to become an indispensable partner to our retail clients. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and use these to truly understand client’s businesses and their challenges. They will be able to drive engagement through actionable insight and innovative solutions.

This is the ideal opportunity for someone with over 4 years’ experience within either the retail sector, research, or client management. This role is perfect for someone who seeks a career in market research, data insight or strategic consulting and who wishes to develop a broad skillset in data analytics, client consulting, project management and stakeholder engagement.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage a defined list of clients

  • Ensure client service is delivered to the agreed standard, meeting the service level requirements for contact and presentations

  • Drive engagement across the broad range of GfK solutions

  • Use Key Account Plans to develop your accounts, maximizing touchpoints and opportunities

  • Work cross functionally within GfK to ensure client needs are met and questions answered; this is both locally and internationally

  • Support with the management and development of team members

  • Supporting the Retail Lead by driving initiatives and projects

  • Identify leads and opportunities within your client base and pass these to the sales team

  • Work with the client delivery team to ensure data quality and deliverables are timely, fit for purpose and meeting client needs

  • Where applicable:

  • Client Insight Specialist(s), ensuring client service is delivered to the agreed standard across all areas of responsibility

  • Begin to develop and maintain senior level touchpoints

  • Maintain correct contractual position with all clients in your area

  • Identify and engage with potential clients to support business growth 

  • Present GfK and market trends, and train clients on deliverables

  • Present to senior level contacts at retailers on latest retail trends and specific analysis answering client’s key business questions

  • Support and deliver Company strategy

  • Ensure the CRM system is constantly updated and maintained

Core Competencies

  • At least 4 years experience in the research or retail industry

  • Supporting development of team members

  • Experience leading projects

  • Market research knowledge and understanding

  • Able to build and deliver tailored presentations for manufacturers and retailers, using a storyline approach

  • Able to build meaningful client relationships, and work standalone at clients

  • Eye for detail and high quality standards

  • Thinks outside the box and challenges where necessary

  • Able to manage and organize staff workload

  • Begin to develop thought leadership for your market areas; build and deliver tailored presentations for manufacturers and retailers using a storyline approach

  • Develop people skills through objective setting, appraisals, interviews, training

  • Strong communication skills, passion, energy and drive, able to inspire others

  • Enthusiasm to learn and develop; brings innovative ideas

  • Client focused every day

  • Computer literate, able to learn and use bespoke systems
