Job description

For our global Consumer Insights organisation​ we are looking for a Product Manager to help with both day-to-day management and strategic direction for one of our most promising global product developments, the Consumer Insights Engine (CIE).

Consumer Insights Engine:

The Consumer Insights Engine offers GfK manufacturer and retail clients access to recent buyer insights for 20 different products in Major and Small domestic appliances, Electronic and Mobile categories across 13 developed and emerging economies. The core dataset maps out consumer purchase journeys with quarterly updates. It is powered by the largest global survey of its kind, alongside passively collected product review data. A rapidly growing number of global manufacturers and retailers access insights from these datasets on a digital platform via annual subscriptions. Sales and day-today client interactions are largely driven by GfK’s global network of CIE product champions and account managers, all relying on a strong global Product team to both deliver and continuously innovate the core offer.

The role:

With your deep understanding of consumer data, you will work with internal stakeholders and clients to further enhance CIE insights content and broader offering to answer key client business needs. You will take content from early insight stage iterative testing to full production and constant improvement over the lifecycle. Over the entire way you ensure value creation for the client, a low friction process and highest professional level of user centred design experience. You will work hands-on, in a highly skilled product & innovation environment within the company with strong links to technology, science, operations and commercial teams plus external vendors/ partners.

Your main tasks will include:

  • Platform content creation & design: You will be part of the Global Consumer Insights team with shared responsibility for the design, creation and development of platform content for the CIE product. This will be done from a client persona perspective, translating data to answer the most relevant jobs-to-be-done for each client persona. These include Marketing managers, Insights managers, Retail partnership managers and Product managers.  
  • Management of development sprints: Working with Tech teams, Operations and method consultants, you will lead development sprints, user journey mappings and prototype inceptions, always utilizing client feedback to inform the process.
  • Working with Data Strategy: GfK has a dedicated team charged with identifying new (often passive) data sources. You will work with this team to identify the most relevant data requirements for the next step of development of the CIE product.
  • Onboarding new data sets: As part of our continuous efforts to enhance the product, you will work with Tech to design client UX for new data sources and with Operations to ensure smooth data handovers.
  • Work in partnership: Close interaction with stakeholders across different disciplines such as tech, commercial, operations, data science and data strategy
  • Provide day-to-day support to the commercial teams and support client onboarding (incl. platform training of commercial colleagues)
  • Input into the development of go-to-market materials with Product Marketing team

Essential experiences

  • ​Work in Product Management or similar environment for at least 4 years
  • Experience of working with consumer data
  • Analytical when it comes to data, creative when it comes to design
  • Excellent presentation, influencing and consultancy skills, feeling comfortable in front of a senior audience
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build excellent rapport
  • Understanding of user research / design thinking/ MVP concept
  • Agile mindset and work style

Beneficial

In addition, the following skills and experiences would support your application:

  • Preferably understanding of survey data in general as well as data structures, metrics and methodological specifications
  • Purchase journey experience
  • Experience of project management software (e.g. Confluence/JIRA, Aha!), Data reporting software (e.g. Tableau, Domo or similar) and/or data analytic tools (e.g. SPSS Survey Reporter)
