London/New York/Frankfurt and Nuremberg/Baden-Baden, 26 October, 2015 – A strong partnership for top-quality data – two of the world's leading market research institutes, Nielsen and GfK, are forming a partnership for targeted future cooperation within the book sector. This agreement was announced by the two companies to coincide with the Frankfurt Book Fair. The new cooperation is a milestone for international market research in the book industry. The collaboration is intended to help customers identify multinational trends and to more closely observe market developments. GfK and Nielsen have been investigating sales and consumer data across all sales channels in numerous countries for decades.
At the core of the cooperation are key figures from the world's largest audience market in the USA, as well as from the UK, the second largest book market in Europe. This industry-specific information obtained from Nielsen will be integrated into the GfK databases and provided to customers via the connected web tools. They provide a valuable overview of bestsellers, hot topics and successful authors in different genres, and enable conclusions on sales traffic in other countries such as Germany, Austria and Switzerland to be made.
