Survey 1 – 2016
Auckland, November 10, 2016 – Results of the Rotorua 2016 Commercial Radio Audience Measurement Survey 1 conducted by GfK were released today at 1pm.
Department of Statistics estimated population data at 30 June 2015 indicates approximately 48,000 people aged 10+ years usually live in the Rotorua survey area used for the Commercial Radio Audience Measurement Survey. Of these, 77.4% listen to a commercial radio station each week.
The survey, conducted over 36 weeks and sampling 896 people aged 10+ years shows The Edge has most commercial station listeners, with 8,500 different people tuning in each week. Flava has second highest with 8,400 different listeners, followed by Coast with 6,900. The Rock has fourth highest commercial cumulative audience of 5,400, and The Sound is fifth highest with 4,400.
The highest commercial station market share was achieved by Coast with a 12.2% share of all commercial radio listening. Second highest commercial share is Flava with 9.6%, followed by The Rock with 9.3%. Equal fourth highest commercial share goes to both The Edge and Magic with 8.6%.
Breakfast results (Mon-Fri 6am-9am) show Coast with the highest share; 11.7% of commercial radio breakfast listening, followed by Flava with 11.1%. Radio Live is third with 10.1% share of commercial radio breakfast listening, followed by The Edge on 7.9%, and The Rock is fifth with 7.7%.
