The fifth Conference of the European Survey Research Association (ESRA) took place in Ljubljana, Slovenia, from the 15th to the 19th of July, 2013. GfK Belgium – Public Services was represented at this conference by Kim De Cuyper and Sara Gysen who gave a presentation on Quality Management in Multi-Country Research. We used the case of the third European Quality of Life Survey, a large-scale face-to-face study which had been organized by GfK Belgium in 34 European countries in 2011-2012.
In addition we prepared and hosted a full morning symposium on Weighting in all its aspects. A wide range of weighting aspects have been presented and discussed, such as the development of weights for wage-related probability and non-probability web surveys, implications of micro-data imputations, design weights mapping the inclusion probabilities influenced by a dual-frame approach (mobile/landline), weighting in cross-national surveys, post-stratification weighting, propensity score adjustment, non-response adjustment by registers and estimation of variance by replicate weights.
The presentations in this symposium came from DemoSCOPE Research & Marketing (Switzerland), Eurofound (Ireland), Statistics Denmark, Adam Mickiewicz University of Poznan (Poland), University of Bergamo (Italy), University of Amsterdam (Netherlands), LinChiat Chang Consulting (US), Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich (Germany), Ifo Institute for Economic Research (Germany).
