No growth in consumption for 2008 in Germany despite recent stabilization
September 25, 2008 – Falling oil prices curbed the downward trend in consumer mood in September, at least, for the moment. The indicator for October is therefore forecasting 1.8 points after a revised value of 1.6 points in September.

Germans still like to travel
September 10, 2008 – In spite of high energy prices and fears of a recession, Germans are still spending a great deal on vacations. The figures apply to the first tourism half-year of 2008. In particular, the trend is for older people and singles to travel more frequently, whilst families are generally cutting back. These are the findings of the GfK TravelScope survey on the travel behavior of Germans.

Innovation drives growth in technical goods
August 27, 2008 – The worldwide markets for technical goods are continuing to expand, with consumer spending on audio, video, photographic, IT and telecommunications hardware forecast to rise by 9% to EUR 462 billion (USD 680 billion) this year. These are the findings of a continuous survey carried out by GfK retail tracking in 73 countries and published at the 2008 Internationale Funkausstellung in Berlin.
