Etilize and Encodex products to be offered under one name

Nuremberg, June 16, 2009 – From now on, the GfK Group will offer all the products and services of its subsidiaries Encodex and Etilize under the joint brand name Etilize.

Last December, the GfK Group acquired the US company Etilize through GfK subsidiary Encodex, and thereby strengthened its activities in the Retail and Technology sector. As a result, GfK now has the largest and most extensive global electronic catalog for technical consumer goods. While the Encodex catalog primarily contains product data for the markets in Europe and Asia and the Pacific, the Etilize catalog, Spex, predominantly covers the North American market for technical consumer goods, as well as Europe. The combined range of products from Etilize and Encodex will be marketed globally under the name Etilize from now on.

The combination of the two catalogs provides North American clients with information on more than 4 million technical consumer goods from Europe and Asia and the Pacific, in 18 languages. In addition, this client group is benefiting from the merging of two high-performance tools for the optimization of sales on these markets. The Spex Market Indicator displays the average sales price as well as a sales success indicator, while the Spex Energy Expert lists electronic devices according to their energy efficiency.

As a result of the consolidation, European clients have access to Spex, a product catalog containing more than 5 million products from the information technology and consumer electronics segments. The data can be retrieved in 20 different languages, and include information such as marketing descriptions, videos and product handbooks, up-selling and cross-selling tools, and a complete collection of the manufacturers’ item numbers.
