GfK TEMAX Sweden - Q4 2009

The positive trend continues

Sweden Lund, 22 February 2010 – For the second consecutive quarter we’ve seen growth in the technical consumer goods market in Sweden. Swedish consumers seem to have put the recession behind and the rising optimism among the households is visible in the figures for Q4 2009.

The final quarter of 2009 recorded a growth of 7.2% which was just enough to help the whole year to achieve growth. When summarizing 2009 we can look back at a year when the market for technical consumer goods turned around the negative trend and ended up growing by 0.6%.

Although some sectors are still on the red side of the zero mark, we’ve seen improved growth rates in all of the sectors in the final and most important quarter of 2009. While Major Domestic Appliances and Photo were the fastest growing sectors in Q4 2009, both reaching new heights in terms of market value, Consumer Electronics and Telecom were still struggling with a decline.
