Saudi, 23 February 2010 – GfK Saudi Arabia has released the reports of Q4 2009, the results are a mixed bag where three sectors are playing well in the market. Top gains were recorded from the Photo Industry, where Digital Cameras both compact and SLR are selling well doubling its sales from that of the whole 2008.
The IT Consumer market also grew with an astonishing 47% against 2008 and the Office Equipment Sector also shown a significant growth year-on-year. The growth in the IT sector is was lead by the growing demand of Laptops, whilst Monitors and Desktops are moving up as well. Contrary to positive moves created by the IT, Photo and OE sectors are declined annual sales of Telecom Handsets which recorded a -12% decline, SDA with a -19%, MDA lost -14% of revenue and although a conservative percentage, the CE sector has also declined with -1.2% against 2008’s revenue. However, the CE and Telecom had shown significant increase during the last Quarter, thus, giving the Market a positive benchmark for 2010.
