General information

GfK Aktiengesellschaft (GfK AG) is a listed joint stock company under German law with its registered office on Nordwestring 101, Nuremberg, Germany. GfK AG and its subsidiaries (GfK Group) are among the world’s leading market research companies. The GfK Group provides information services for its clients in the consumer goods, pharmaceuticals, retail and services industries and media, which they use in marketing decision-making.

The consolidated financial statements of GfK AG include the company itself and all consolidated subsidiaries. They have been prepared in compliance with the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), as they must be applied within the European Union.

All International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) binding for 2006 and the announcements of the International Financial Reporting Interpretations Committee (IFRIC) have been applied where they have been adopted by the European Union.

Additionally, the accounting principles set out in § 315a sub-section 1 of the German Commercial Code (HGB) have been considered when preparing the consolidated financial statements.

The consolidated financial statements have been prepared in euros and rounded up to the nearest thousand euros. All figures are specified in thousand euros, unless otherwise indicated.

The annual financial statements of the parent company, GfK AG, have been prepared in accordance with HGB and are filed with the Commercial Register at the district court of Nuremberg under HR B 9398.

Section 29 of these notes describes standards, interpretations and amendments to IFRS that have been published but not yet applied.
