GfK’s Next Generation (“NextGen”) Competition – now in its 7th year – gives undergraduate student researchers from North American universities a chance to test their marketing and research knowledge and learn from the pros. Using the latest techniques, technologies, and perspectives, they address issues critical for today’s marketers.

The winning team receives a $1,000 cash prize, as well as a visit to GfK’s New York City headquarters, where they are immersed in the world of marketing and consumer insights. They receive feedback on their work and learn about consumer insights as a career – from GfK experts and client Mentors who work in MR and marketing. In fact, one of our 2015-16 winners is now working at GfK’s Chicago office!

NextGen is open to full- and part-time undergraduate students currently matriculating at accredited North American colleges or universities – and this year GfK has made it easier than ever to enter. The competition is ideal for students majoring or taking courses in:
Students may submit Proposal entries independently or with a team (up to 4 students per team). One faculty advisor is allowed per team.
The Competition has two “rounds”; initial entries (Proposal phase) do not require new primary research, and descriptions should be no longer than 1,000 words. These are due December 1, 2017; this year, GfK has introduced an Express proposal form that makes entering easy.
GfK and its client Mentors will then select a handful of teams to actually carry out their research plans and draw insights and implications from their findings. They submit longer, in-depth reports, and one winner will be announced in April 2018.
