Survey 1 – 2016
Auckland, November 10, 2016 – Results of the Tauranga 2016 Commercial Radio Audience Measurement Survey 1 conducted by GfK were released today at 1pm.
Department of Statistics estimated population data at 30 June 2015 indicates approximately 154,000 people aged 10+ years usually live in the Tauranga survey area used for the Commercial Radio Audience Measurement Survey. Of these, 84.2% listen to a commercial radio station each week.
The survey, conducted over 36 weeks and sampling 899 people aged 10+ years shows The Edge has most commercial station listeners, with 24,400 different people tuning in each week. Coast has second highest with 22,900 different listeners, followed by ZM with 22,300. The Rock has fourth highest commercial cumulative audience of 21,700, and The Hits is fifth highest with 20,400.
The highest commercial station market share was achieved by Coast with a 11.5% share of all commercial radio listening. Second highest commercial share is The Rock with 10.4%, followed by The Sound with 9.8%. Fourth highest commercial share is Newstalk ZB with 9.7%, and ZM has fifth highest with 7.7%.
Breakfast results (Mon-Fri 6am-9am) show Newstalk ZB with the highest share; 11.7% of commercial radio breakfast listening, followed by Coast with 10.5%. The Rock is third with 10.4% share of commercial radio breakfast listening, followed by The Sound on 9.9%, and ZM is fifth with 8.4%.
