For a number of years the cooling sector outperformed that of all other white goods with value sales rising around £280million since the recession led low of 2009. Whilst refrigeration is no longer the stand out category in major appliances the uplift has continued with 8% growth on the year (Jan-Sep16).
This is being driven predominantly by traditional fridge freezers which, having grown 10% this year, now account for 60% of the total market value. Following widespread deals and discounts available over the first half of the year, average prices are beginning to creep back up with higher price points now returning to growth. This recent pick up can only be encouraging as we head into the key year end period.
